LONDON PUB OF THE YEAR AWARDS

The SPBW London Pub of the Year competition was launched in 1980 as a reaction to a 'best London pub' competition in a London evening paper, in which beer did not seem to be a significant criteria. Pubs are nominated by individual members and branches based in the Greater London area and are visited by a panel of voluntary judges. After the onerous task of visiting the pubs and drinking the beer the judges then vote on the best pub. The winning publican is subsequently presented with a certificate commemorating their victory.
